Just went on Amazon and the front page is a 'letter' about newly released Kindle Touch (@ £109) and Kindle Touch 3G (@ £169). I've been waiting for the Kindle Fire to come out here - does this make it look rather unlikely? Does anyone know anything about these 2 units? Free 3G sounds like a very good concept.

I'm expecting the 2nd version of Kindle Fire to be released in the UK as well, in time for Christmas. The Kindle Touch was released in April:

I have the Fire now, but I'm just getting to grips with it. Seems nice enough and does what I need it to. As far as tablets go, it seems reasonable enough. Full potential won't be realised though, until the introduction of the complete Amazon cloud service over here in the UK.

Hmmm...so that's what's stopping Kindle Fire from coming to the UK as yet. The cloud service should be ready to accept subscribers from here.

I believe it might have something to do with digital rights and deals for video streaming and downloading, not being fully sorted out here.

The Amazon cloud service will be storage unlimited for Amazon purchases and 'free', just like the 3G service, but obviously this service will be subsidised by media sales. Still a nice draw though and the Fire is a competent web browser to boot.
