For All Those that are interested I O S 6.0.1 is ready to download.Just done mine a few minutes ago.

Just minor fixes.

My understanding is that the Maps app can only be fixed from Apples end and is not dependent on an iOS update.  The issues are not with the app itself but with the map data provided by Apple and 3rd parties.

If this update has been available since the 2nd, why has my iPad only just informed me it is available? I would expect to be informed as soon as it is available!

to be fair if it wasn't drip-fed to a certain extent, the servers would just die.

Yes, got this update on Friday at 8:30am. Some of the app updates post iOS 6 were stuck at updating & not working. I had hoped this would sort them. Anyway, deleted those apps & reinstalled them. Now working fine.

Yes mine went aok too.Also at the same time updates for Safari 6.0.2 and iPhoto 9.4.2 were released.
