Galaxy Ace info please.

Hi there, can anyone tell me what the icon at the top of my Galaxy Ace screen means, please? It's an upper case E, above two arrows, pointing up and down. I've checked the online manual, but couldn't find it. It disappears when the WiFi signal is present, but returns when WiFi is off. Thanks in advance.

It denotes an 'EDGE' (aka 2.75G) data connection...

It's an older standard, that has a lower data rate than 3g.
