I think you may have posted this in the wrong area of the forums, usually it should have gone in Hi-Fi Or the Home cinema sections.

Basicly you get more control on a Active Bass Speaker as opposed to a passive as its not just governed by the external amp & has different controls fitted to the speaker to change how it works with its own amplifier.
