Can anyone help,

I have connected a standalone hard drive to my boxee box and wish to access this to dowload to across my network from my macbook pro(osx 10.8.2). This has proved more than a problem than I ever envisaged, eah time I access boxee in finder it asks for password, which I assume to be my macbook pro password, duly entered to get...."The operation can’t be completed because the original item for “hd_1t” can’t be found.

I have checked boxee settings, ie smb share etc, all shares are set on the mac. I have extensively searched the internet, to find quite a few problems of this type in 2011, then the trail goes cold.

Im pretty stuck, hoping someone out there can assist, thanks in advance.
