Bristol Show - What are people going to see?
Hi Guys,
Personally I would love to see everything but that is probably not possible in 1 day. Therefore I will be making sure to see the following:
What HiFi - certainly like to meet and great the people who produce the mag and chat with us on the forums.
Cyrus - As you will see by my signature I love my Cyrus gear and I am very interested in the new Amps and hope the hear a full on system.
Arcam - those that bash the 'Cyrus sound' are usually Arcam owners so I would like to give them a fair trial.![]()
Cleareraudio - mains cables are always a great topic of debate so I would like to see what differences there are to be had.( I am also taking a couple of friends who are not really 'into' HiFi to give me a more objective opinion!)
Krell - well you just have to....
Meridian - I have always been a fan of Meridian ever since I got into HiFi. I first heard the 506, 551 and A500 about 15 years ago and that was the first time thatI could not stop grinning because of how good it sounded. Shame I could not afford them!
Naim - another brand to be investigated...
Sennheiser - have been thinking about a better headphone set up so it will be good investigation. I always hear a lot of good things about the 650's
Chord Electronics - another one where you just have too!!
Merlin cables - 'cause I like their cables
Monitor Audio - love the speakers and be interested to hear others
Russ Andrews - same reason as Cleareraudio
and some sort of Vinyl specialist too.
Lets see how it goes........ ![]()
No Messiah, we hate Cyrus cos they're snobs and send me email newsletters like these, with a lousy prize of their DAB tuner:
| Dear <> You may have thought that after the phenomenal success of our SE range of CD players, our R&D department would be entitled to rest on their laurels for a while. However, here at Cyrus we're determined to bring our customers products that take advantage of the latest technological innovations, and continue to evolve to suit the consumers' ever changing needs and lifestyles. So the Cyrus team have continued to remain hard at work, and the result is a new range of products which we're delighted to announce will be premiered at the Bristol Hi Fi Show on 20th to 22nd of February. What is it? I'm afraid that will remain firmly under wraps until the show. | However, if you want to be one of the first to

Check the bottom one out: I don't believe that's an existing amp or DAC-XP:

I think it's jolly nice of them to invite you to listen and potentially give you a DAB tuner! ![]()
I got the same 'personal' invitation and, while I know that they don't really love me, if I lived anywhere near Bristol I would pop my head in, if only to try and get myself a free new toy and listen to some hi-fi...
...but I would say that, because as my signature shows I am a Cyrus person!
I got the invitation too and I'm not a fan.
ÿ
Wheres my b---y invitation!!
This from Cyrus:
"If you are planning a trip around the Bristol show you may like to drop in on us and hear a brand new amplifier platform for the first time. Obviously you would expect to hear the new amps play with our SE CD players but what you may not be expecting is Cyrus using a laptop as a source!
We are on the lower ground floor in Foyer 2 (next to the main sales desk)"

Well, you should have told Peter to send it out a bit sooner. Bring it up at the next board meeting...
I will be looking at covering most of the stands, but the ones i am defo interested in seeing are ,Kef,Yamaha,Marantz,Sennheiser,Pmc,Denon,Pioneer, amongst the other Brands, and meeting The What Hi-Fi Stand, hope everyone who goes enjoys it.
I am particularly not going to hear how the Naim DAC can be worth two grand. Though I wish I was.
al7478:i just want to see these 4 guys with beards. thats all, then i can go home.
Did not see them. most dissappointed. just heard lots of speakers. mostly underwhelming ones.
Did you get a chance to listen to the Naim DAC?
Octopo:Did you get a chance to listen to the Naim DAC?
Me? No, sorry. Actually, wanted to hear some high end stuff just for the sport of it (ill never buy it), and have realised i didnt hear much at all.
Maybe ill develop a strategy for these events with experience. didnt have much of a plan, except to get cabling if possible. succeeded there.
You do realise you passed on having a direct opinion to the root of my heart?
