I'm sure this has been done before.

That said, I sat down to watch Once Upon a Time in the West last night for the first time in years. I'd forgotten how wonderful the score is, though that perhaps has something to do with shots of Claudia Cardinale during its most sweeping moments.

Scorsese style pop compilations are not under consideration here. Only orchestral or electronic scores composed specifically for a film.

It would be either jurassic park or lord of the rings fellowship of the ring. The inception and tron score are good modern examples but dont come close to the other two.

I am sure I have lots, just having a brain freeze moment!  I like the music in Back to the Futures, especially the third one.

A favorite one is the sound track to Chariots of Fire.

It's had a lot of replay value this year. Strangely, they played it in New York when Andy Murray won the US Open.

When I read the title of this thread my initial thought was Once upon a time in the west. Thinking about it though, all of the ennio morricone scores from the spaghetti westerns are good.

Though it was nicked from an Indian folk song, I think, while Barry performed rather than composed the theme. Still, they say talent borrows, genuis steals.

I agree entirely, though I'd broaden that statement to include, well, anything composed by Ennio Morricone.

For a completely different kind of score, I'd also like to applaud Brad Fiedel for Fright Night.

Too many favourites to list.

Three off the top of my head that have not already been mentioned:

Leon
Fargo
Godfather Trilogy

Some of his work for old Italian films is fantastic. The compilation albums Mondo Morricone and More Mondo Morricone are well worth a listen.
