What music did you have at your Wedding?
Hi all,
Just wondering what music you had played at your wedding (if at all) We have to pick
1) waiting music
2) Bride walks down the isle
3) Leaving the ceremony together
4) First dance
Just wondering what did you pick? If your not married what would you pick or what are you planning on using?
So far I think we are having...
1) Radio Protector by 65DaysOfStatic cos its the only song I'm really capable of listening to on repeat and never get bored
2) The nice cello bit from Flames by Vast
3) The last minute of Everlong by the Foo Fighters, cos its EPIC
4) Undecided. Possibly Let Go by Frou Frou
Shotgun Wedding by Roy C
First dance was "Mad Passionate Love" by Bernard Bresslaw, honestly ![]()

We didn't want anything too serious.
I only remember Vidor's Toccata from when we left, but then it was fiteen years ago tomorrow, and the memory's not what it used to be...
General music over dinner was a minidisc compilation from the mellower side of my music collection. Queen, Opeth, etc.
First dance was; A Perfect Circle - 3 Libras
Second Dance was; Al Green - Let's Stay Together.
Evening disco was full of traditional wedding party tunes, mainly '70s & '80s stuff.
I was contemplating getting my (then) band to play, but felt it might kill the mood somewhat.
Nothing out of the ordinary for us 30 years ago. At night it was the usual 70/80's stuff with stereotypical Rave On DJ (see Phoenix Nights ), with the first dance picked by my wife, Peabo Bryson & Roberta Flack's "Tonight I Celebrate My Love".
We had The Beatles 'In My Life' from Rubber Soul actually played as part of the ceremony in place of and in addition to various hymns. As my wife's father had passed away it seemed appropriate.
For the reception/first dance we had a series of songs listed with our chosen DJ. First dance was supposed to be Kate Bush's 'Moments Of Pleasure' followed by breaks through the afternoon for additional dances for guests to join us. I can't remember what they all were now but I know Prince's version of 'Nothing Compares To You' was one of them.
However...our DJ didn't turn up for the reception so we ended up with Heaven 17's 'Temptation'
which my wife danced to like a nutter to because she had had too much vodka and red bull by that point
What could have been a disaster was saved by a friend who had a car full of CDs including The Smiths, Oasis and various indie music.
To date, ours is the only wedding we have ever been to where there were a stilt walker, a dancing robot and an enormous space-man (courtesy of one of my wife's clients who was in a dance troupe) and they played The Jam's 'Down In The Tube Station At Midnight'

I can't remember what they all were now but I know Prince's version of 'Nothing Compares To You' was one of them.
Funny, I thought it was Sinead O'Conner that had a 'version' of that song! ;)
So no one played Stand By your Man (Tammy Wynette) or felt the need to play
Rescue Me (Fontella Bass) .
Our first dance was There is a light that never goes out by the smiths. The rest of the music was a very carefully prepared spotify playlist!
Possibly my funniest music moment At a wedding was my brothers; he randomly had chop Suey by system of a down in the middle of a predominantly 80s playlist. I have never seen a group of 30-40year olds in suites and dresses moshing before. My mum and nan gave us all a standing ovation by the end. Surreal but very funny...
