RE: What annoys you?

Solicitors, I feel, should go straight to the top of the list.

I just had a conversation with a solicitor with a secondary interest in lettings that acts as the agent for the flat I rent.

I received a letter "proposing" a rent increase, despite the fact that I already pay more rent than every other tenant in this row of flats.

I explained that I wasn't willing to accept the increase, since I'm already paying more than my neighbours. The solicitor advised that we might negotiate a "nominal increase," which seemed entirely unreasonable for the aforementioned reasons. I cited rent agreements on other nearby flats and houses (the identical flat beneath me is currently let for £100 less PCM than I'm now being asked to pay, for instance). The solicitor seemed entirely impassive. It's like dealing with a money-wringing machine.

I've dealt with various solicitors in my time when buying and selling property. Not once did I feel the work completed justified their extortionate charges.

When someone uses "your" cup at work.

It isn't "your" cup so to speak, but its the one you use every time, for whatever reason. Then someone comes along and uses it.

I have the perfect antidote, I never wash my cup. Anyone else using it would probably need an antidote afterwards...

That is really effluent.

Trouble with conveyancing solicitors is that they are, I imagine, the most unskilled and least effective people who enter the Law.  I wonder how many bright young things actually WANT to be a solicitor of that sort when they set out?

Another area of life where a 'profession' is accorded the respect that it in no way deserves, judging by the self-important muppets I have come across.
