And I though the consensus was that "dole-scroungers" were the real parasites. I think you omitted Esmee from the list of dependents...
This thread keeps on reminding me of the G&S 'list song'...

No. The losses to the national coffers due to rich (and corporate) tax dodgers far outweigh the losses from 'benefits theft' by an order of magnitude or three.

I 'list' a bit after G&T, but I don't have a song for it.

I'm aware of this, hence the ironic tone of my post.
What's depressing is that this is the minority view. Most people seem to labour under the illusion that one day they will become a member of the privileged few.
University tuition fees will rise to £12,000 per-annum as of 2012. The nasty party really is instituting an even more elitist system than has been in effect for the last three decades, while trying to sell their policies as "fair" and "for the greater good."
Ok. Sorry. Was busy comparing the original Gilbert & Sullivan 'I've got a little list' song lyrics to the modern, (cleansed of racism) Eric Idle/Jonathan Miller version.
Interesting. Thanks Andrew.
someone else has already mentioned "baroness warsi", i cant say id heard of her before seeing her on question time on thursday night, im not too bothered about her political views, i just thought that she looked like she knew better than everyone, she seemed to have an answer for everything, and was full of righteous retoric.. id love a good debate with her![]()
some self righteous person no name given use your imagination.
people who drive at 45 mph everywhere, holding everyone up or risking peoples lives.
people who undertake on the motorway even when others are doing the speed limit.

Mystery Post of the Day...
chebby:1) Middle class stay-at-home mothers (whose OHs earn a small fortune) bleating about the possibility of losing £90 a week
Range Rover petrol money/Filipino servants wageschild benefit for Tabatha, Jocasta, Raoul, Julian and Siegfried. "Don't they realise that even b####y Bedales is £28,000 a year now?"To which I say... "Get a job you pampered parasite!"
2) Enormous sports Range Rovers, full of unbelted and straw boater'ed & be-blazered kids, driven at 60mph down 20mph residential roads by Hermes scarf wearing women too busy arguing with their domestic help agencies (or Bedales admissions office) on their mobile phones to notice how many wing mirrors they have knocked off or how many baby strollers are flying through the air in their wake.
1) is a very sore point. Couldn't agree more...
2) Indeed: living in a village community, narrow streets, you can always guarantee any congestion is due to a Range Rover or a Shogun. Don't object to 4 x 4 vehicles if you have a large family or live on a farm.![]()

...me too. I've considered the career changes a couple of times. Thing is, I might turn into venomous pain in the behind.
People who complain about not getting child-benefit ... when obviously earning more than enough NOT to miss it ![]()

Or, of course, poor families with too many children (ie that they cannot afford to raise themselves without taxpayer funding...for everything) living in multi-million pound properties in some of the most expensive parts of London, costing the taxpayer tens of thousands of pounds a year in rent, which the vast majority of people cannot afford to live in, because of their poor family planning measures, many of which come from abroad having not put money in the national coffers in the first place. Maybe the local council estate-dwelling couple who already have four children, might see popping out another couple as a means through which to move to a nicer neighbourhood. (Of course, the above is rare, but it still happens). You also have to ask yourself who is more of a 'parasite' to use your choice of term, someone who chooses to stay at home and can afford to do so because their husband earns a good salary and contributes a significant amount in taxes, or those who only take from the system, and contribute not a lot, and the latter does not only apply to the admittedly rare scenario to which I refer at the beginning of my post. Maybe if more parents were able to stay at home and look after their children, then we wouldn't see so many of the little scoundrels on the streets causing havoc.
If we're going to use stereotypes and broad generalisations as you have above, then I'm sure this contribution is acceptable.
£28,000 a year is a lot to pay for your children's schooling, which in the process, I expect would relieve the government (taxpayer) of educating that/ those child(ren). Maybe tuition fees at public schools ought to be partially tax deductible.
