Well, That's It Then: A One Way Ticket To Switzerland For Me
I celebrated my 50th birthday last September. Since then I have noticed an increasing amount of beige in my wardrobe, I tend to be, er...wotsit...thingy...er?
And I have actually been enjoying jazz-related music more.
Is this the end?
Welcome to the club. No need for Switzerland just yet (unless its for one of their many excellent jazz festivals
) This is an opportunity to broaden your musical horizons and if you are becoming more open to jazz from a former rock perspective I recommend the excellent (though sadly lamented) Esbjorn Svensson and his trio. Also lend an ear to Pat Metheny, Eberhard Weber, Patricia Barber.
If Spotify is willing, then so am I. I'm currently listening to Artist Radio based on the Jacques Loussier Trio and quite enjoying the varied selection of music it's providing.

Or you're subconciously an Armani fan?

Never mind the ECM label bland-fest of Metheny, Weber et al, why not try out something a little more exhilarating. Say, Art Ensemble Of Chicago or the jazz-tinged craziness of Mark Anthony Turnage.
John Surman and Anouar Brahem are "bland"??

It may not be the end, but it's certainly the beginning of the end.....especially if you are getting gradually grumpier, and you regularly wake up with strange pains, that seem to have come out of nowhere!
BTW. BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! (I got that particular T-Shirt some time back)

Indeed not, but you didn't initially mention them. Good call though.

Oh, I know where the pains come from...thus far. I can't speak for the unnatural urges to listen to jaz though!
Jazz. Just like Catholicism, it gets you in the end. But when you get to Acker Bilk or Kenny Ball book the tickets.
If you want my twopennyworth have a listen to Beady Belle, and definitely Conversations with Christian by Christian McBride. The latter Jazz-ish. I bought it after listening to it on Spottydog. Beady Belle is also available on it.
Thanks to all for your suggestions. I will search and listen with an open mind. To be honest, what I think I am liking about jazz (and related) music is the attention to sound quality. Everyone seems to take great pride in producing the best possible product to caress the ears.
