RE: Watches

Took Mrs C to Vienna last weekend for my 20-year review. May as well get appraised somewhere nice.

Anyway, right next to the hotel was a big watch manufacturer exhibition "ViennaTime" I think - loads of top name swiss and other manufacturers all under one roof, including  IWC, Vacherin Constantin, Panerai, Breitling, Jaeger Lecoultre and some english ones too. Oh, and a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta (for some reason). (oddly no Rolex or Omega).

At that point Mrs C started to question my motives for choosing vienna Smile

But the watches that I fancied the most  (beautiful but not "blingy") were from Ingersoll and Seiko. Hardly the most expensive of all on show.

Free entry, but no free samples unfortunately.

What does the ABCD knob do?  Does it rotate the kinetic ones?

Maybe, but one of the most respected / sought after Japanese quartz watches, if not THE quartz brand.

Just won this on the second time on the waiting list at Amazon for £62.50, really like the look of it and a bit of a brucie bargain at 75% off Smile Was 40th to begin with and left my pc for 5 mins and when I came back had missed it, so joined again at 80 odd and just got it.

Nice. There are some great Invicta bargains there today. I like Casio watches, like Citizen; no nonsense Japanese instruments that simply work well without pretense.

RE: Watches

I'd post a pic of the Trident with the Hirsch strap, but can't post the link to flickr. This is one of the very few forums that makes it so damn difficult to post pics!

I would like a Tag Carrera, but can't afford one.

I don't know why but I have always liked TAG's, even when I was at college I used to stop at a posh watch shop in the city and look through the window at all the watches. Quite like the look of this which is very simillar to the one you posted

If I won the lotto I think I would own quite a few watches and probably quite a few cars to go with them, there are a good few motorsport related watches that catch my eye as well. Must admit I know absolutley nothing about watches but would love to have the money to just buy what I like the look of and not have to look at the price tag.

Really like some of those posh watches that you can see the movements through the face, find it fascinating to see all the bits spinning around and the design and workmanship involved.

RE: Watches

Had the opportunity to buy a Rolex Daytona last weekend, but couldn't justify the cost of buying something that would probably spend most of its time in a case, for fear of scratching it.

So probably going for one of these instead...much more practical Wink
