I really don't see why, my last car did 175k miles in 4 years and the turbo didn't go bang. I didn't follow any special procedure.
Aren't you Mr Economy though? (Vaguely recall you saying you get 65mpg+) If you are always up shifting at 2.5k then you are following perfect warm up etiquette!

Skoda Superb - Luxury Car of the Year - Top Gear Magazine 2009.
"Luxury" in terms of size and toy count, yes.
But in terms of soundproofing, grades of soft-touch/'rubberised' plastics, lined glove boxes and door pockets, damped switches, use of real metal trim as opposed to 'platiminium', clever partioning do-dahs/cubbys in the boot, cabin 'mood lighting', etc, a VW's is one notch above a Skoda's - and priced accordingly.
Although, the difference between VW and Skoda grades is now not so obvious because current VW Group strategy places Skoda in VW's old segment, while the latter is now positioned as an Audi alternative for punters who prefer low-key/unpretitious.
According to that multi car shootout, Skoda has made significant improvements in the 2013 range & the Octavia is as classy as the Golf in quality.

Ok in my experience of owning 600 ish cars a year Skoda and Seat are certainly the more reliable and in a lot if cases the better driving product.
55 56 plate Golfs cost me a fortune in repair costs and every VW product I own the EML light comes on!

Ah but do they have an umbrella in the rear passenger door for the chauffeur to hold over their passenger when it's raining?
My car has all of the above btw...
Yes! Every one!
Though to be fair, my Skoda's did on holiday...
"600 ish cars a year"?
Aye, the current/Mk3 Octavia's cabin quality is a big step-up compared to the Mk2's, but IIRC What Car? said the Octavia's cabin trim is "almost' as classy as a Golf's. But it doesn't handle or ride as well as the Golf.
And irrespective of which is actually the better car, brand snobbery means a Golf will always be easier/quicker to sell-on, plus it'll have better residuals.
Also, we seem to be comparing apples with oranges? Although more or less the same cars underskin, an Octi is heeoooge - almost Mondeo-sized - compared to a Golf.
Hey, don't get me wrong - the Superb Estate is an excellent large family wagon, only a churl would state otherwise.
An "umbrella in the rear passenger door" - what, like a Rolls-Royce Phantom? GIRFUY!
Sorry im cheating i sell cars for a living! (Well somebody has too)
Huh? White with tartan interior trim is a classic combo that harks back to the Mk1 GTI.
In fact, only GTIs and 911s are premissable in white
There're currently 8 white Mk5/6 GTIs for sale at PistonHeads, for example
...who prefer low-key/unpretitious.
Eh, new word, shurly knot? Meant 'unpretentious'
Not 65mpg no, I've had 650miles out of a tank but that's more like 55mpg. 2.5k? I barely get over 2k most of the time!
No signature worth mentioning...
Which bit do you find hard to believe?
You doing anything in a manner which might be deemed 'correct'.
