Tom Tom update slow
Any suggestions for a rediculous slow speed to download 2.8gb maps?? 6+ hours???
Cheers
Thanks breeder. Breedin' helpful.
It will be interesting to see if there are any relevant suggestions as it does not all boil down to internet speed.
I have a fairly fast connection but when updating the Tom Tom I invariably have to leave it do it's thing overnight.
Must be a problem at Tom Tom's end.
Thanks Alears. Little to do with internet connection speed I think. ither software or the TT server end. Just wondered if anyone was able to speed things up. Also dofficult to moan at TT.
Cheers
Strange I've never had that problem ,it's a bit slow but always completes in about an hour. Have to pay more attention next time I update.
In my experience it's not just TomTom, took me all night to get my Garmin updated (somewhere between 2.7 and 2.8Gb).
Updated my Tomtom via 130 yesterday and the day before. A 2.7 Gb download each time and both occasions took 3-4 hours.
Standard stuff then? 2.9gb taking 6hrs. Hopefully these full updates are infrequent. Would prefer to remove europe updates but few options. The new software seems much less useful than the old Tomtom Home too. Thanks for your confirmations.
Cheers
Robin , I've just done the update , 1hour 10min for download & install . (10meg cable Internet)
How do you perform update via their e-mail link? , I always just go to Tomtom on browser and login and update from there.
Hi,
I use TT Home software and it took no longer than 20 minutes for the new map to download and install.
Can't remember the map size tho but it was a full map update.
TomTom 530GO + BT Infinity.

Cheers guys. I have a new Via 135. My old tt one used tt home and was fine. The new software is MyTomTom and also I now have europe as well as uk.

Get a faster internet connection or better still throw the TomTom in the bin.Do people actually still use them?
