Cuts ? What cuts ? All they are doing is slowing the rate of growth in spending; quite a diffrent thing. I'd love to see some real cuts, but unfortunately Clegg has put a block on anything that would actually make a real difference to the deficit.

What's the matter Strapped ? Do you have an aversion to facts ?
Here's another one for you - since the Government started to review all Incapacity Benefit claimants by requiring them all to attend medicals, circa 30% of claimants, or 900,000 people, voluntarily decided not to attend the medical but to come off the benefit.
Sorry, you're right.
Now I know "the facts," I've completely altered my position. Thankyou for enlightening me. Honestly, I'm not getting drawn into this discussion, so I won't post again on this thread. I've been around long enough to know that the debate won't go anywhere.
If you like, you can think this is because your claims are so watertight that I couldn't possibly offer a counterargument. I'm perfectly content for you to think this, as it saves me several hours of angry typing. Worst thing is, I'm now composing the kind of response I objected to on another thread.
The_Lhc, you win (as long as you're not commenting on my writing).
No, that was commendably polite in the circumstances. And I don't see any inferential suggestion that cloverleaf is lacking in intelligence, merely that he is woefully ill-informed. (I am disappointed 'facts' was not in capital letters though.)
Anyway, did you see the tennis?

Are you glad about this you pinko liberal?
You should be mourning the fact that 70 percent of claimants did decide to attend medicals! (Or that there were even medicals to attend in the first place.)
Why aren't all of these 'incapacity wallahs' forced to break rocks - with nothing but their hands and teeth - for nothing but bread and gruel and water?
It sickens me that elderly people are given money for nothing! Their so called 'pensions' should be confiscated (if they haven't already been stolen) and these slackers put to work making concentration camps for anyone who can't prove they are descended from at least 25 generations of English people.
It also makes me puke that the under 16s are all given free education rather than made to work in asbestos factories!

Seeing as we're meandering off topic and the UK political stuff has little to do with the original post, it's probably OK.
I listened to the match, as I don't do Sky (tennis is the only reason I'd bother subscribing). Sounded pretty exciting.
Hopefully the ranking rise will help Muzza as we head into the summer. I'm not sure it'll make much difference. Nadal's back to his best; Djokovic is still number one; Federer's slipping; while del Potro seems to be regaining major-winning form. Murray's head-to-head against Ferrer is only slightly favourable, too.
I also finally got round to watching Berberian the other night. If you haven't seen it yet, you should!
I don't watch the news, read papers, or vote anymore. I used to be very political, but in the end, we get nowhere.
One party comes in, they do some good for a while, then they get complacent, and treat the voters like fools, then the voters turn against them, then we vote in the other lot. They then undo everything the previous lot did, and the cycle continues.
Not everyone on benefits is lazy, not everyone in a job is hard working, and certainly, not everyone who has benefited from a private education and the class system, is intelligent, and qualified to be at the top of large companies.
An old friend of mine,an anarchist, once explained to me how a country could exist without governments and politicians. It really made sense at the time, but then again, I was drinking, and I couldn't remember any of it the next day.
All I will say is, it couldn't be any worse than this cycle of stupidity we have now.

Always good to set the world to rights over a few pints too many!
Reminds me of Paul McCartney's anecdote on The Beatles Anthology about the first time he dropped acid. Convinced he'd discovered the meaning of life and determined to remember, McCartney sourced a pen and sheet of paper. Upon waking the next day, he pulled the paper from his pocket. It read: "There are seven levels."
Not sure I'm a fan of many McCartney anecdotes, but I quite liked that one.
. (I am disappointed 'facts' was not in capital letters though.)
I'm a fan of when people say WAKE UP. There should be a subsection of Godwin's law for that gem.

What's NEEDED is for the more mature thinking countries such as Russia and China to STOP being fools and they along with the likes of the USA and other (us included) to nuke North Vietnam and simply take these rats out of the equation.... sorted

Predictable but amusing; the lefties pour scorn, but have no cogent argument in response.

Yes, I though OT might be acceptable on this thread! I also don't have sky, but whilst juggling baby duties listened to muh of the third set. Must have been a killer of a match for even Ferrer to be cramping. Remarkable last set with all the breaks and Ferrer's record against top 5 players in finals (0-13) is also incredible.
Hard to see rankings making much difference at the French. It's great to see Nadal come back so well. I would have questioned his ability to play five sets on hard courts, but this is unlikely to be a problem on clay. It may assist at Wimbledon but all depends on the draw. If he avoids all the 'top 3' until the final then it gives him a good chance. Will be interesting to see how federer is playing, as he has finally shown some genuine signs of falling away of late. However, if Murray has Nadal in the QF, fed in the SF and djoko in the F it will have rather backfired!
I switched my lovefilm list to the berberian DVD instead of blu ray and it arrived about a week ago. Unfortunately my gf came down with appendicitis and was in hospital for a while, so playing the single father role has meant insufficient time to watch films with my undivided attention! I hope to watch it in the next week and will let you know what I think.
Wait, what is thread about? I'm confused.
Observe the signature in its natural habitat.
North Vietnam? I think the unfortunate people of that country suffered enough during 50/60/70's with the French and Americans and then their own regime.
I think you mean North Korea
