The Ultimate Listening Chair?
In search of Nirvana...what would be your ultimate listening chair for hifi?
At £5,000 would this improve the sound?

Rosewood - it would certainly match my speakers.....mmmmhh. Slipping it into the house past the wife and bank manager....(he does seem to visit often
Simon, I'm sure Ray and Charles Eames would be mortified if someone tried to turn their classic Lounge chair into a massage chair!!
And Dandy, there are some very good high quality Eames Lounger reproductions available for just over a grand if you really do fancy one. Just put it together with an Isamu Noguchi coffee table for your beers
(http://www.wellworking.co.uk/store/coffee_tables/vitra_noguchi_coffee_ta...)
and you'd have an ideal listening zone!!

Simon, Think I'll stick with my Eames - I can do without the 'massage' and 'heat' functions, the rather dubious looking remote, 'faux leather' and the deflated airbag lying on the top of the Restwell !!

I too would love an Eames lounge chair & ottoman.
One day....... One day......
Is this the sort of chair that, if you bought "used", wouldn't depreciate, but could even increase in value? Like a vintage guitar or car?
But, like great hifi gear, do people hang on to them forever once they've bought one?
Spot on Danny - people do seem to have kept them once they have one and it is very rare that originals come up for sale. If they do then they usually aren't a lot cheaper than a new one from Vitra and are often picked up by dealers who add their own mark up - so probably a good investment if you would be willing to part with it later on. There are however some good reproductions available for around the £1-1.5k mark which do have a great number of the unique characteristics of the Vitra ones.
But as for the £350 ones on ebay.......
the reproduction ones can be quite shoddy - made with faux leather, or just cheap grade stuff. Try before you buy!
I quite like the balzac chair
Interesting to be heard! The 'listening chair' is looking a very comfortable couch in which one can take a short rest while working. Thanks for the snap of it with brief detail. http://www.junointeriors.co.uk/charles-eames-furniture
I like the Stressless stuff.
Milan Direct have some copies/replicas on sale at the moment.
