Hello

Does anyone know of any plans for the entire series 1-3 of The Inbetweeners to get a blu ray release?? I've put off buying this for so long now as i've hoped there would be a blu ray release seeing as though it's been shown on 4HD but no sign still, i'm loathed to buy the dvd boxset only to find that it's going to get a blu ray release at a later date so if anyone has any info it would be much appreciated, thanks.

Love the show btw, laugh out loud funny excellent!

Watched this from the first episode, tho was a bit disappointed with Series 3. Can't see even any discussions / rumours re a blu ray release, let alone a date. Was it shot in 1080p?

If it was shot in HD, then the transmission master tapes Channel 4 have will be 1080 50i (even if the series was shot 1080 25PsF) as that is the required delivery spec for HD masters for the UK broadcasters. As the show started a few years ago, there is a chance that the first series may have been shot in SD but the last one and probably series 2 would more than likely have HD masters available, series 2 possibly HDCam, but series 3 HDCamSR.

Sorry I can't be more definite, but the last masters I used for some DVD promos for series 1 were all DigiBeta safety clones, but that's not to say that the original transmission master tapes they were cloned from weren't HD.

I don't know about Blu-Ray, but I wouldn't buy the DVD (and didn't!) as you can watch all the episodes on 4OD. I don't know if 4OD have a 'better quality' option like iPlayer, but they may do in future Smile

Thank you all for your responses i guess i will be buying the dvd boxset then...i hate buying dvds when i have a decent bluray player but in this case it would seem i have no choice.

As for the 4od suggestion that's just not an option for me as the quality of the image is so darn poor, i find 4od the worst on demand service available even on my laptop which can make most services at least watchable. With a complete lack of any HD content despite channel 4 having it's own free to air HD channel and commercials thrown in too i'm eager to get the complete series in disc form so dvd it is then, seems a major oversight from channel 4 to me but then i guess there must be a good reason for there being no blu ray release.

Rob, could it be the case then that perhaps series one simply wasn't shot in a HD friendly format? Please forgive me as i'm not up to speed with the specifications needed for HD or indeed the cameras and film required in order to fit the standard.

Why worry about getting the Blu-ray?  Your player will be getting the best out of the dvd and upscaling it.  Let's be honest, when you are watching it isn't going to be for the extra detail in the shadows.  Have you seen the movie, I feared watching it as most follow up movies to comedy series are not that good but it was still laugh-out-loud funny?
