I am not sure that is valid? I am not a wine drinker and would struggle to tell the difference between any kind of wine.
I recently watched that programme with Oz Clarke and James May. I got the impression that by the end of the series James May (although strongly biased in favour of cheap wines £7-£10 a bottle) could tell the differences between cheap and expensive wines.
