Yup, seems Volkswagen were too busy selling cars to have noticed the Fiat stood in front, while Fiat people were twiddling their thumbs and had loads of time to come up with this idea, and overtake the Google street car.

If Fiat but that effort in to trying to match the quality of even the cheapest VW Group cars, they might find it more beneficial.

FWIW I rented one of those to take my Texas driving test. Made the parallel parking (reverse into a parking spot between two sticks) really easy. The heavily pregnant driving test lady wasn't too impressed with my choice of vehicle though.....
