Hi,

Has anyone managed to see this film yet? I know it is not on general release until the 9th Feb. Blockbuster has it for hire, but I am looking to pre-order it on either Play or Amazon.

If you have seen it what are your thoughts, I've heard from some of my dvd snide friends that it is very good.

Not into the snide dvd's the quality is always poor.

Many thanks

Saw it at the cinema and thought it was dreadful. Fotunately I had a large pot of "Revels" with me so the afternoon was not a complete write off.  I believe the DVD is a harder cut than the cinema version, however  I can't see this improving a film that was dull. witless and totally lacking any style or originality.

We've been using it as a test disc. Certainly a dynamic soundtrack, but that's about all it's got going for it. It's needlessly violent, with IMO slightly dubious racial overtones, and well beneath the stature of a class actor like Neeson (maybe he needed a new extension or something).

I rented and really enjoyed it, very realistic fight scenes. Turn off brain, enjoy a@se kicking. The end.

May be a keeper for me in the future.

Could be - I heard that Jeremy Irons only did The Time Machine because he'd recently bought a castle! Smile

The character's daughter gets kidnapped and he is a ex SAS Soldier, of course its gonna be violent.

If you liked the Bourne fight scenes then your gonna love this, makes Jason Bourne look like a sissy! Great modern action films, pays homage to classics like Commando in my opinion.

Don't patronise me! I'm up for a bit of on-screen tasty action - but IMO Taken went to unnecessary extremes, and the race  issue made me slightly uncomfortable....

But each to their own!

Yes, In my not very expert opinion. I thinks it's down there with Tango and Cash and Cobra as films which promised so much and delivered pants. Then again I didn't see many films in my teens. Music and gigging were my passions. I don't think they have aged well. Blue Thunder now there is a good 80's action film that still holds up. As well as Die Hard.

Indeed. Oddly enough the film only opened in US cinemas last week and has gone straight to number one.

That does not surprise me one little bit.

Aah. How quickly the world forgets 'Darkman'.
