Take Zlat!
Outrageous 4th goal. Brilliant.
It was an exhibition goal. Whether it 's the best of all time is very debatable. It was a wonderful goal, certainly one of the best over recent times...
Took the shine away from Gerrard's 100th cap.
It was a typical England performance: They can't hold onto a lead (no canine jokes, please). The best England player by a mile was Danny Welbeck. He struggles to play a game at UTD but always performs for his country.
How about Peter Crouch's volley last season against City? Or Maradonna's 2nd goal against England in 86 World Cup?
Great goal - it was as if the goalkeeper wasn't on the pitch - just like the free kick goal too. mmmhhh.
As I said in the forum after the mess of a world cup in South Africa, I really couldn't give a toss about England any more and really can't see that attitude changing in the foreseeable future (and that's from someone who used to be diehard supporter going to games both at home and away) but after hearing about it, I sought out videos of the Zlat goal. Absolutely stunning - what really got me was that the slo mo indicates that he knew exactly what he was doing and exactly where the goal was without any need for another look. I guess that sort of thing sorts the real talent from us mere mortals.
Best goal ever, I don't think so but it's probably near the top. I can think of a couple of others that IMHO are better without any prompting, both from Dennis Bergkamp - Arsenal v Newcastle in, I think, 2002 and Holland v Argentina at France 98. Check them out on You Tube. It sort of hurts to say that as I am not an Arsenal fan - my team do play in red but I'm from Salford and you can guess the rest yourselves. No hate mail when you work it out thanks.
