Some kind person stole my bike last night... :(
Gary Fisher Tassajara, not particularly exotic, but it was mine and I loved it.

JohnDuncan:This is indeed sad. But at least you don't live in the UK, where your bike would have been stolen long before you grew to love it.
Well the bike is 8 years old, and I've lived in Sweden for 15 months... Although I didnt use it for going out on the town in the UK...which many people do here.
My mistake was to tie it up in a bike shed, rather than actually out in the open...
Whats more, I needed to use the phone at that point, and I had inadvertantly locked it in my pocket, and needed a PUK code.
So I ended up a bike short, £13 taxi and had no phone until this morning when I found the code...
I looked up the price of a replacement, and its near £900 in Sweden for the new model (£600 in the UK)
Then theres the replacement pedals, child seat attachment, bar risers, bell, lights and rear mudguard...
Just wish I had caught them in the act...or maybe I dont grrr.
My friend in UK has last week a nice Stumpjumper stolen
I feel your pain.
I lived in my flat in Woolwich (supposed crime hot-spot) for 8 years. Never had a problem. I moved back into my parents last October as the house we were buying was still in probate. 3 weeks at their house in Eltham (supposed nice area), someone steals my Genesis amp, 2 x Pioneer subs and the 6 disc changer from the boot of my car.
Sadly, there are thieves everywhere.
Thats cos the horrible people in Woolwich know there's nothing worth nicking in Woolwich....so go to Eltham to nick stuff instead
My bike was nicked the other year on an estate somewhere in Rohampton (note to self - don't detour through the estate again).
Fortunately, a guy that works for my old man lives on the estate.... So I got it back
It turns out that the gang stole bikes and sold them on to Polish/foreign workers. They must be pretty awful sales people, because it is a pretty nice bike and they still had it like 9 months later...
You should come around my area if you want a new one; I always see bikes etc in front gardens with no locks on or anything... Crime rates are low, but still.... Better safe than sorry.
you have reported it? check your home contents as most cover a bike automatically upto 4-6000 Sek.
edited - no trading, please
Unlucky fr0g.
Had two nicked in the past and two others written off when I was knocked off by cars but none as nice as the one you`ve lost. Console yourself by listening to a favourite album whilst reminding yourself that you are a much better person than they are. I believe in Karma so they will hopefully come a cropper one day.

Have to say, If I had caught them in flagrante delicto, harm would certainly have been done. I just feel sorry for them now... I have a good life and family , a good home, a good hifi, they are just sad pathetic individuals.
...and I feel so much better now I ordered a new bike...
