Is it only me that gets a tad annoyed when long strings of quotes are used sometimes with photos. Unnecessarily making the post longer than necessary. Its easy to edit the quote making it shorter when appropriate or a simple 'reply' - its reasonable to assume that the previous thread was read first.

A quick look and I found a whole page of strings of quotes and the comment was 'thanks for the info'. Grrrrr

I agree also - but I know I sometimes am a transgressor (must not press quote button...)

There are times when quoting is appropriate, when replying to specific points in a long post, or long thread...

It's not as annoying as people banging on about the same point over and over again, didn't you already say this in the photo thread a week or so ago?

It's also (arguably) the lesser of two evils compared to no quoting at all, there's nothing worse than a visit from CAPTAIN CONTEXTAWAY!!!! Particularly when the person replying has taken so long to do so there are now half a dozen replies between his post and what he thought he was replying directly to.

ONE FOR YOU THEN ? Cheers.excellent!

I guess Im guilty of banging on but hopefully some may learn to reply more intelligently. I agree ofcourse that a quote is very useful and neccessary at times but it makes a better point when edited (sometimes). Some posters seem not to see the 'reply' button leading to posts which are ..... ZZZZZZZZZZZ

Actually if not using a keyboard, eg if on a phone, this can be a major PITA.

I do it on my iPhone, and that's using Safari. Yes it is a little tricky, but it can be done. Anyone with one of those Samsung phones with screens the size of a home cinema system should find it very easy  excellent!

No no no no... you must add the huge questionnaire.

(Damn! I've quoted someone who's quoted someone else.)

Depends how much time you have on your hands. Normally I'm browsing / posting during short periods between when I'm meant to be doing 'real' stuff, then 'a little tricky' equates to 'too time consuming'.

Btw the one thing this thread was really missing was the subject matter being 1 or 2 characters short of the limit so that when it added the 'Re: ' it stopped you posting. Disappointing Robinkidderminster  poke, prod
