PS2 slimline - help needed re diagnosing source of problem....

My daughter's PS2 seems to have given up the ghost - it refuses to play DVDs or games (just makes a clciking noise) - but strangely it seems to spin CDs ok (DVDs and games do not appear to spin ) - any ideas on this one and can it be fixed ?
Looked online but there seems to be lots of conflicting info there - some blaming the laser, others not etc etc...

Thats almost certainly the laser.
