Power problem

Hi, I am looking to buy an AV-Reciever from the US and was wondering if there would be any interference if I used a UK to US step down power converter as I have never done this with an audio equipment before. Any help is much appreciated.
As I have aaid several times here before, the results when using a step-down transformer will be unpredictable at best, plus you have the problems of duty and VAT, and the uncertainty about what will happen if anything goes wrong - it'll probably have to be shipped back to the States for repair. Oh, and the spec on the US model will probably be different to the UK/EU one, too.
Apart from that, smart move...
