Stuck this in Off-Topic...

Had a curious idea for the mag, wondered if any other forumites would be up for it:

A sound-off between readers' systems- either the WHF team doing a bit of a road-trip, or forumites taking their kit to WHF towers, for a go in the high-end demo rooms...

The respective rigs could be judged objectively, and possible improvements suggested. Might make an interesting article, in my womble opinion.

Any thoughts out there?

Not sure it'll work. It's a costly exercise. WHF already has "savvy shopper" where a reader tests different systems for own purchase (blu ray player etc.).

RE: Possible interesting idea

Sounds good to me. Love the idea of the mag seeing evidence of their reviews/tests in readers homes.  How readers have installed and fitted systems into their living spaces.  Passing on installation ideas, pov from the featured reader.  Few problems though.  Are the whf team going to travel the length and breadth of the country to see systems in homes?

Cant imagine people x hundreds of miles from whf towers are going to manage to transport their kit easily.

How would they select the systems to feature?

I love everything home cinema and hi fi particularly enjoy looking at the your system thread for ideas and the hours of labour and thought as well as cash people have buried into their settups.

I don't think that the featured systems should all be top of the range either. A good cross section of old and new, high end and low end

I am sure this was mentioned in the past. The mag featuring more things about the readers and their settups as well as all the latest kit...

John

Of course, it could be organised independently of the WHF team, if someone wants to take on the responsibility..poke, prod
