You should know better, Chebby. The effects of Fukushima are yet to be measured, because it is ongoing, and those from Chernobyl have sohwn a sharp rise in certain form of cancers. That's not forgetting the effect on wildlife, the food chain etc. Also, what guarantees are there that mankind can manage spent fuel rods for tens of thousands of years?
Fukushima was a terrible thing. However, the worst power plant related incident was the failure of a Chinese hydro electric plant that killed 170000. Both were caused by natural events (earthquake/tsunami, torrential rain) exposing engineering shortcomings. I have yet to see anyone claim that the number fo deaths from Chernobyl or Fukushima would be anything like that large. We desperately need to reduce our climate changing activities and nuclear has to be one of the methods.
You mean the wildlife that's completely reclaimed the city of Chernobyl and the surrounding area? I don't think they care.
No signature worth mentioning...
As the three-eyed dog said tho the two-headec at: "two heads are better than one"
DONT YOU GET IT ! IF WE DONT SORT THE ENERGY PROBLEM WE WILL ALL HAVE TO GET THE NAD3020?
There's a large anti-nuclear movement in Japan now, and I believe it's growing. Two reasons for this, one, the earthquake/tsunami and it's effect on the Fukushima plant, and two, the fact that the Japanese government have not been telling the truth about the continuous leaks of radio active material ever since.
My point. Governments only tell the people as much as they want to, we would never ever be told the whole truth without whistle blowers.
The fishermen are still fishing the seas around that part of Japan, the Japanese people won't touch that fish with a bargepole, so if I was you, I'd be very careful where I buy my fish from, especially the cheap frozen varieties.
