new website/forum
when is this due for launch? can we have a count down to lift off
meetings about meetings..............sounds familiar
It's software development, it'll be late anyway.
oh yea of little faith...........of course it will work..........its not a well know software giant eining in ''soft you know
I'm a software developer. It'll be late.
I'm an IT manager. I'll second John's comment...
It can't be late if we don't set a specific launch date
(we've learnt from Freesat!)
But seriously - things progressing well, but still some technical issues to tackle, mostly to do with us wanting the site to offer you all as much functionality as possible, not just a glut of content.
Genius. Maybe ITV should do the same with their HD launch. Oh - they have...........
Adopting the "done when it's done" policy!
Shame that never stood up at school for my homework being late....
As you can imagine, it's a real change for us, too - we're used to the world of immovable printer deadlines!
If anybody tells you that something is 50% complete, tell them that you know this is a lie and there is no such thing.
didnt scotty from ST, reveal in an episode of TNG that he used to tell kirk that any job would take twice as long as it really would so he would maintain his position as miricle worker
.........
I remember that episode! Yes he did, James Doohan, sadly missed ![]()
I usually estimate how long it will take me, times it by two, then add 2 days to a week before giving my final estimate. Generally I come in on time...
yep but yea canny change the laws of physics........or time

Soon, but those involved are far too busy smoketesting their databases, populating their CMSs and having endless meetings about meetings to provide a running countdown.
And as I have said before, the forums won't be changing when the new version of the site goes live (he said to head off the howls later), but there'll be more than enough other new stuff to keep you occupied.
