Never rains but it pours
Overnight we've had thunderstorms and our bedroom ceiling is leaking like a sieve. Called the emergency repair service and they are sending someone out, but can't give a time. Hope the ceiling holds firm.
Going over to the bro-in-laws today, so unless they can arrive fairly early the OH's mother will have to do a shuttle service.
So fed up, and the title has never been so apt. 
PP,i repair water damaged ceilings all the the time mate,my advice is to locate where the incoming water is ''puddling'',then poke a hole through the ceiling(make sure you have a bucket underneath)this will let the water drain through and stop the ceiling either bowing,or in the worst case falling down.
If you can,get up in the loft,you may be able to temp fix some tarp or plastic where the tile/tiles are missing.

Thanks, the Housing Association told me to stab the ceiling. The immediate issue is whether the rain stays away.
Should count my blessings given how whole houses have wrecked. Our major issue is we live in a bungalow.

A water bed on christmas day is never a good thing, reminds me of what happened on coronation street a couple of weeks ago, anyway sorry to hear about whats happened pp & i hope it isn't going to be too expensive to put right.
I'm very sorry to hear that PP.....and I have every sympathy as i live in one of those old houses that is always springing leaks due to the old roof. The last big one was due to burst (mains) water pipe after the last freeze, though that was after Christmas.
In my case, the insurance company were excellent, and aside from a reasonable excess, covered the whole thing.....it did add a little to the premium for 2 years though.

Well, we need a new roofing tile, which he thinks is cracked and the felt underneath is perished. They can't replace the tile until Thursday. Meanwhile he's sealing it, which should keep the worst out. Assuming, of course, there's no more torrential rain between now and Thursday.

Hope everything sorts itself out quickly and you can enjoy the festivities.
I would have thought the HA would have to ensure the building is wind and water tight - if it isn't, contact them again to demand action.
If you have home insurance, they may have a hotline you could use - should mean someone comes and seals the roof as a minimum.

If we get two dry weeks sometime next May and the water co's start talking about water shortages and having to impose hosepipe-bans I think there'll be a riot.

PP I had the same thing a couple of nights ago, albeit not as bad as your situation. Walked through in to our back bedroom and noticed a pool of water on the floor. Then looked at the wall and water was running down it. And this is an INSIDE wall!!
So it not just you, merry christmas!
Whoopy! They've finally arrived to fix the roof. Exactly a month after the deluge they've got off their lazy backsides. Probably have to wait six months before the ceiling is made good.
