I'm thinking about buying a mattress this year as mine is getting on a bit, i would like a metal free foam mattress with memory foam topper, ive seen on the telly a dormeo memory  foam mattress 12+2 greatly reduced in price but i'm not sure if it will be any good or not, i've also looked at bensons for beds & i've quite fancied one of the sensaform mattresses, are their any others i should consider ???

Appreciate any help, but i want one that is metal free.

Would you consider a full memory foam mattress (with a cover that prevents sweatiness)?

I use one and can give you the details if you're interested.

No not really because it would be expensive, i was thinking £500 tops for a kingsize, i would really like an octosprung but that is way out of budget.

RE: Need mattress advice

I got a new double bed and mattress from Bensons For Beds just before Xmas:

http://www.bensonsforbeds.co.uk/Bed-Frames/Leather-and-Upholstered-Bed-F...

 That was the bed.

I got a pocket sprung mattress, can't find which one.  Pretty happy to be honest.

Personally, I didn't like memory foam mattress at all. Too uncomfortable, especially when turning in sleep and sweat inducing.

I would recommend this:

The crowd I use has a 20% sale on atm, which brings the 18" version close to budget (£519 down from £649): http://www.sleepform.co.uk/products/memory_foam_mattresses/tempcontrol_m...

The Outlast cover prevents sweating.....for us anyway: http://www.sleepform.co.uk/sleepform/outlast.html

Pocket sprung here too. As long as it's not too cheap, you won't feel the metal, it doesn't need turning etc.

Check this guide:

http://www.johnlewis.com/buying-guides/mattresses-buying-guide

And this video:

As the advice always goes on here: definitely demo (try the mattress in shop by lying on it) before purchase! Smile

I think this might be mine:

http://www.bensonsforbeds.co.uk/Mattresses/Pocket-Sprung-Mattresses/Doub...

It supports your back well, and is really comfortable.

Some of the very best mattresses are pocket sprung:

http://www.vispring.co.uk/

If I remember correctly, the Queen uses this brand.
