Musician folk!
A lot of us here probably listen to music, I guess. But who here creates it as well?
What do you play? Do you play in a band? Do you record? Would you like to learn to play music?
To start: I'm primarily a bassist, and have played in bands from indie rock through to black metal. I've recently moved into doing solo bass work, some examples of my work at:
So shoot! I always love finding new artists, and some of the best I've found are the bedroom players!
Used to be - one album, a distribution deal, headlined at 100 Club and supported Alabama 3 in Brixton once. Then realised that bills have to be paid, and went back to the day job.
I still strum in the evenings, but I don't miss the 5pm sound checks (waiting for the sound guy to actually arrive at the venue), wait around till 11pm to go on, then home by 3am to unload the van without waking neighbours and go back to being a parent at 7am.
But, I suppose there aren't many hobbies which involve getting yer bum smacked by hen-nighters in Folkestone harbour on a Friday night, while trying to strum a g chord :-) ( I think I miss it - where's that gig bag?).
Another drummer here: I pay in an originals band and two covers bands, but I've also played in big bands, brass bands and for shows. I also play timpani and percussion in various symphony orchestras.
I spent ten years in a church choir when I was young, and that's where my musical passions began at the tender age of 8, but even then I was drumming along on anything that came to hand at home to 'Top of the Pops' and 'Ready Steady Go'!
I might sing and play guitar every once in a whlie...
Guitar for the last couple of years. Currently trying to master the dark art of selective palm muting and adding rhythmic-like "clicks" to my play. Should have stuck to strumming!
Been recreating Doinnington in my bedroom for 30 years now! If I could sing and play at the same time, well, if I could even sing then I'd have played in pubs years ago, but never had the time or willing friends to get our act together.
Is Doinnington like an alternative Donnington?
I think its spelt DOWNLOAD:)
Have played in a few bands in the past, never got anywhere though.
A mate I played with has gone on to better things, see http://www.flipron.co.uk/

The regulars know I play drums in a metal band.
Here's a short clip of me.
