My first job (after paper rounds and before A Levels etc) was in the local shop.  1st Day was 18 March 1995, I remember that day cos I worked the afternoon and was then in hospital by the evening.   Smile

RE: Memories of your first job

Apart from minor work delivering newspapers or mail, my first real job was as an Apprentice in the Merchant Navy in 1964, aged 16. I served four years before being eligible to take my first examination (which I passed) and went on to have a thoroughly enjoyable career at sea.

I cannot recommend Apprenticeships highly enough - I learnt how  to do the job, as well as how to manage a team. This experience has underpinned my whole working life.

BTW, at start I was paid £10 a month, and in my final year it had reached a jaw dropping £25 a month - which I rarely managed to spend !!
