I've got it!

gel's never had a job, so he'll actually be working on the cruise ship.

It's like normal life, but in reverse.

Well you don't need to retire til you're at least 60, so you could leave getting the job for another, say, 26 years  excellent!

RE: Memories of your first job

first job was working in a greengrocers for IR£13 a day.  1 day a week (when the spud delivery came in) was hellish heavy lifting, the rest was minor lifting and lots of chatting up the girl on the tills.  A great summer!  For my first "proper" job, I guess I'm probably still doing that, but (like lhc) it's for a different employer and in a different country too.

RE: Memories of your first job

My first job (after paper rounds and before A Levels etc) was in the local shop.  1st Day was 18 March 1995, I remember that day cos I worked the afternoon and was then in hospital by the evening.   Smile

Left college 1970.Did my C&G in television and electronics. Worked for Rank bush murphy in drayton road borehamwood.

Servicing boring transistor radios and radiogram ampsbanging head against wall Then dad reckoned i was capable of better things, and funded three years at uni for me. Did sound engineering etc etc. And then worked for ATV in borehamwood. Last twenty years worked for myself.

So i have been fairly happy with my working life.Smile

RE: Memories of your first job

15 - 16 (During O' Levels) Supermarket butchery department on Saturdays and holidays and a couple of evenings every week. (It was the worst/messiest job in the place but the highest hourly pay.)

16 - 18 (During A' Levels) Hi-fi/TV and record shop salesperson on Saturdays and some holidays (very little actual 'pay' but excellent commission), KFC restaurant a couple of evenings a week, two 13 week college summer holidays entirely spent full-time at local IBM plant (masses of overtime and fantastic money even for a student worker). I was living in my own bedsit and supporting myself from age 16 onwards - all through college - so I dd a lot of work during evenings and weekends and holidays to keep everything afloat.

18 - present.  Full-time IT worker.
