Spent a while in the last few days on the phone to some of the manufacturers trying to understand how to set up and use their equipment optimally. It struck me how open and accommodating some can be, and I personally would be interested to pay a visit and take a look at what they are doing. I'd be interested in how what they think the future is about, so their product planning ideas, what they think makes great audio, etc etc. I suspect that it's a bit of hassle for a random member of the public to turn up, but if a bunch of dedicated (?) enthusiasts turn up then I'm sure that some of them might be willing to indulge us for half a day.

Is anyone else interested? If there are enough of us that are interested in such a venture, then I'm happy to try to organise something, I'm guessing that we'd need around 10+ to make it worthwhile.

I'll start the ball rolling then:

Steve, I like your idea and hope you get some interest.

I have met people from Kef, Atlas, Audio Note, Linn and Arcam, to name but a few......and without exception they were all knowledgeable enthusiasts, who were interesting and a delight to meet.

The week after next, it's my hope to meet Touraj Moghaddam (founder of Roksan Audio), so if all goes to plan, I will report back how that goes.

Would be very interested in visiting any key speaker manufacturer, especially if there is a demo throughout the product range involved. Imagine a visit say to atc with a demo of say scm 11, scm 40, scm 150, scm 300 and a pair of subs!

would contribute to organising, too. Can also provide photography coverage for a visit report on this site.

No plans yet fir any specific brand, that's to be decided depending on who is interested. No point me going to Roksan when everyone else wants to visit Rega.

Cno, I'm envious, I'd love to meet him and chat a while too. I've always admired the Roksan thing from afar (being a Linn owner) but you know I have been more (recently) pleasantly surprised by Roksan products than anything Ifor ever made Smile

I was thinking BBB or RGD can drive.  Smile  They are local to me.  I know Panasonic headquarters is in Japan but I am presuming they have a place in England some where too?  For some reason I am thinking Wales though. Smile

Had a feeling that was Toshiba and I thought they'd closed it down a year or so ago. Might be wrong.

I've been to the REL factory in Bridgend, South Wales. I just turned up with a pocketful of cash trying to get a discount. I had a full guided tour of the factory and they have me wood samples to take home to get the best finish for my room. The people there could not have been nicer.

I didn't get a discount for cash though! They will only sell through dealers and so I had to go to my local shop. Needless to say, the REL subwoofer now sits happily in the corner of my room.

Nice one!  I haven't been any where me.

Yeah I think they did close down but I thought it was Panasonic.  I have spoke to Pioneer UK on the phone before, they still had some screws from their old TV stands.

RE: Manufacturer Visits

So do you want to visit the assembling / dismantling TV stands unit of Pioneer then? I don't think they manufacture anything in UK. You could pay a visit to their warwhouse if you want...

Cheers.
