Hi All,

My Toshiba laptop is on its last legs and so I'm looking to buy a replacement. However, I'm torn between getting another windows/pc type laptop or a macbook or macbook pro. My absolute top budget is £900.

The main thing I would use it for is internet and word (if this is possible/ easy/ cheap to do), though I will also use it to store my music, photos and watch films. I don't think I'd use it much for games, but it would be nice to be able to play most things should I, at some point, wish to do so.

I've only looked online briefly, but for the price of a Macbook/ Macbook pro, I could maybe get a Sony VAIO with Blu Ray. Is there any point in getting blu ray given the size of the screen and the fact that it's not FULL HD resolution. Would the whole 24fps, judder and motion issues be a problem on a laptop?

I do like apple products and the design on these macbooks is definitely stearing me towards them, but not if there are serious performance drawbacks or compatibility issues. The battery life on them seems quite good by comparison though.

Any opinions on which would be best, or any possible reasons for sticking with windows/pc laptops or going for a macbook, would be great. What should I be looking for?

Thanks

p.s. I'll try and have a look in Currys and PC world tomorrow and maybe John Lewis at the weekend.
