WOW! that's a lot of house for £350k - I know it's all relative but I'm tempted to move to Texas!
Just like Tom though - I think I'd miss the green green grass of home.
There's 150,000 Brits in Houston.
I won't mention the fact that the chair-lady of our current local homeowners association inadvertently rented out her house to a Vietnamese guy who turned it into a grow-house (marry-Joanna, that is). I presume that's not the sort of "grass" you were referring to...
As for lawn turf, we have irrigation, and for cuting it it, Mexicans. Old joke - what do you call a Mexican without a lawnmower? Unemployed.
Me? I miss a decent non-pastuerised pint of real ale, fish and real soggy chip-shop chips, bacon with meat on it (it's all streaky stuff here), but above all I think I miss pork pies the most. Mind you, I have lost three stone since being 5000 miles from the nearest one....
Just been speaking to a mate of mine and he's offered to test your metal. His house is:
1) Next door to a Pub selling pretty decent Ale
2) Across the road is an award winning chippy, Off licence, laundrette, taxi rank, corner shop that sells pork pies and Danish bacon and a cobblers (how he has managed to stay in business is a miracle!)
THere are no Mexicans, but then he doesn't have a lawn so not an issue
The house is a two bed terrace and although the running costs will probably be higher for him, he says he will happily swap
And that front door looks like Hagrid could get through without ducking.
Or built so you don't need to take off the ten-gallon hat?
When, in 2000, I first moved here, someone walked into a bar wearing his cowboy hat. An American friend of mine, who happens to be a retired bull rider, said to me "only two kinds of men wear cowboy hats - cowboys and a-holes".
As for lawn turf, we have irrigation, and for cuting itt, Mexicans. Old joke - what do you call a Mexican without a lawnmower? Unemployed.
Whereabouts in the UK is this place?
We'll probably be back in the UK for a short trip in June.
I don't miss the weather though. It was kind of mild here today. Barely made 70 Fahrenheit and parly cloudy. No rain, and certainly no snow.
Did you hear about the two Mexican firemen?
Hose' (Hose A)
and Hose B
And if you think whites are racist, you should see how the black, latino and Vietnamesegangs go at it...
