If songs from within the diegesis count, I'll also go with: "No I won't be a nun. No I cannot be a nun. For I am so fond of pleasure..."

This thread could be neverending.

I think there has been as it happens but most of them have got too many EDITEDs in them for this place...

Admittedly it's hard to find a clean Lebowski quote, apart from the most glaringly obvious.

Now I'm scared there will be an avalanche of Lebowski quotes. Let's erect a barrier here! Smile

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is a venerable goldmine of classic one-liners although a lot of them aren't that original), but my favourtie will always be:

"In Italy, for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed. But, they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had 500 years of democracy and peace - and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

This is breaking the rules, but I'd like to quote the concluding sentences from Anthony Lane's damning review of Lock Stock, reprinted in full in Nobdy's Perfect:

Midway through the screening, Tom Cruise leapt from his chair, screaming "This film rocks."  I rest my case.

"Look. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives itself from a mandate from the masses. Not from some farcical aquatic ceremony".

"Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries".

"What floats on water?"  -  "Bread.....Apples......very small rocks".

Amen to that, one of the worst films I've ever seen...

The last time we had a thread like this I posted a quote from a 12A film (Deja VU) and got the thread locked so I shall remain silent. (and be thought a fool rather than post and prove it) mad

From the brilliant Rear Window:
