Just sold my drum gear, now what's the best courier?
A sad day, but i've had to shift on all my Roland drum stuff on the 'Bay. I haven't had it set up for a while, because im refurbing my gaff and right now the cash will come in handy, so I made the tough decision to shift it all on. The sucky thing is that Roland stuff isn't selling as highly as it was. I got £230 for a TD-10 drum module! It should have gotten nearer £400! Anyway, the auctions closed last night and now i'm after a good courier.
Anyone know any?
And Biggus Christophe, don't feel too bad for me cos out of the ashes of the Roland gear will be coming the Phoenix of the 2 Box Drummit 5, next spring

Most of the couriers are pretty good now.
I always ship my gear with Parcelforce 48 and have never had a bad experience yet. Just be sure to avoid Yodel, they are the most useless bunch of W****rs and will be sure to damage, lose or deliver it to the wrong address, they really are rubbish.
Shame, but at least you're not knocking it on the head for good.
Thanks for the tips, everyone. I've had a look on the parcel2go site. Didn't realise pricing is based on box size rather than weight, which is good to know. gotta keep those boxes small!!!!
B.C, cheers matey. I'll be back on the drums soon as poss.
Hi Matey
Sorry you've had to sell your gear....sad day.
Also try Interparcel as their insurance rates are more favourable
EDIT: used to work for HDNL (now yodel) and, to be fair, they are no better or worse than any other carrier but we do all have our bad experiences
The problem is that you can't really judge them by company. Each company is only as good as the particular driver who has your packages.
I dealt with a few of them in work, and we had to change quite regularly as we'd often be let down. Yodel/HDNL get a lot of bad press but one is as bad as another.
I'd probably pay a few bob more and go direct to one of the bigger brands for peace of mind.
If you cant wait in for a Courier, and have to go to a P/Office, Parcel Farce 48 HR. But there getting expensive.
If you can wait in for a P/U Inter Parcel.Com.
Or my choice Pharos Parcels, Used them twice in September. 12 kilos of CDP to Italy UPS road delivered in 3 days. £22 no Insurance.
Pre Amp to Spain, booked at 11.30 A/M Monday morning UPS at the door 13.40 thats service. UPS road. £24
Dont forget to, double box items, the CDP mentioned above took an hour to pack and included, original box with inserts, outer box, air bags, bubble wrap, chips and just about a complete roll of heavy duty parcel tape. Love to have seen the blokes face who had to unpack it.
Personally I use the Interparcel/UPS standard service. Touch wood UPS have never let me down and it is always delivered next day though it is not a guaranteed next day service.
When looking at the different courier options, as mentioned above, avoid Yodel like the plague. Hermes are the same I believe.
They say you get what you pay for, and these two make you understand why.
.

Not exactly Bretty. It depends on the weight as well. Don't ask me how they calculate it though!

Have you got their number?

Weight doesn't seem to come into it at the kind of weights that i'm sending (although i'm sure it does for heavier items). I put in the size of one of the boxes that i'm sending into the website along with a weight of 1 KG and got the quotes for the various couriers, then I kept the box dimensions the same but increased the weight a kilo at time, all the way up to 6 KG and the price stayed the same. Only when I upped the box size did the price increase.
And thanks again to everybody, for helping out.

I use the Parcel2go website, I am not sure if that is right for you or not? You choose which courier you would like to use. I have used ParcelForce and they were good, I sold a Pioneer undemount speaker to a guy in Germany! It was really cheap and a good way to do it. They just pick it up too!
