RE: Jubilee celebrations ?

for those in a jubilee protest mood, I'm guessing you'll be telling your employer (if applicable) that you don't want the extra day of bank holiday, but you'll instead take it out of your annual holiday allocation?

I'm off to Penzance to experience some fine weather, that will be slightly colder than London. Gawd bless yer, ma'am.

Pride in one's country can take as many forms as there are inhabitants.

Just because i'm not hanging out the bunting for the Queen (or the Olympics), doesn't mean I am not proud of my country in other ways.

'Elizabeth sponges' (whatever that is)

I think you'll find that's the main complaint on this thread.

If she does, that's a debate for another day.

Meantime, I have to come up with a edible alternative to the 'Victoria'. (please no jokes about railway stations. Enough to derail my train of thought).

Won't be celebrating myself as I personally can't stand the Queen.  I think the Royal Family should be taken outside and shot.

Saw the concert last night.

Couldn't help wondering what Cheryl Cole was doing there. One paper described her as sounding like a squawking budgie. Very apt, she is definitely D list, her only talent is for self publicity. I was dissapointed that Shirley Bassey only sang one song whilst the prancing midget from Australia did three. Shirley has more talent in her little finger than the other two put together.

Enjoyed Stevie Wonder and Elton John. I think Elton should have closed the show rather than Paul Macartney, who was a bit of a damp squib.

I had no intention of watching the concert but caught the opening 45 secs of Cliff Richard. OMG!

Elton, honestly? He can't even pronounce the words to his own songs anymore. He just mumbles his way through like a drunken pub singer.
