iron man.....
went to see this last night, was very impressed.........robert downey is a much underated actor and he played the 'playboy' side very well (lets face it its not acting for him!)....but he also showed his acting skills a bit (nothing like chaplin though!)...........the sfx were wonderful as expected........could have done with more of the smackdown between iron man and iron monger........the pacing and direction was spot on for the type of film...........so disappointments were jeff bridges........zero menace as obadiah....seemed like he was sleeping through the film...........so overall an 8.5/10 as it did what it said on the tin very very well..............roll on the hi def transfer to disc
Off to see it at the weekend , also looking fwd to the hulk 2 in the summer ,oh forgot it is summer, well weve had two days of sun what more do you want, soon wimbledon will be here then it'll pxxx down
I haven't seen this film and reluctant to go as I will be very disappopinted if they have changed too much from the original Marvel comics. In all the trailers there's no mentiion of his heart injury or his alcoholism, so I feel it will once again be a Hollywood glossing over of a GOOD STORY.
Sorry, I'm not a comic geek but was a real Ironman fan as a spotty youth.
oh no the heart injury is very much in evidence!..............the alcoholisam is aluded too .......... hence my comment about Robert not having to act that much for the bits where Tony Stark is in playboy mode (as we all know Robert has a 'colourful' past)...........
Might give it a try then ![]()

The film is the first film from Marvel Studios. It has been produced by Marvel themselves and Paramount is basically just a distributor. Basically, Marvel got fed up of the other studios buying up their properties and ruining the stories and the characters. They decided to set up their own studio so they could have control and stop this from happening. Iron Man is the first fruits of this project (soon to be followed by The Incredible Hulk - Marvel weren't overly enamoured by Ang Lee's version) and it's not a typical Hollywood glossing over of a good story. It's a decent origin story that's really lifted by the performances, especially Downey Jr, Terence Howard and, dare I say it, Gwyneth. The heart injury, as someone has pointed out, is in full evidence. The alcoholism might come into it more in the sequel but it will have to meet the demands of being a PG13 rated popcorn film aswell.
Saw it the other day and I Frickin loved it, great film and one of the best comic to movies out there!
Can't wait till the sequel, sweet stuff.
Top film - I do like a good Hollywood blockbuster every now and again. Cant wait for Indy IV.
Enjoyed Ironman good fun. The summer is looking pretty decent this year. Indy next, MGS 4 in June, Dark Knight in July and the X-Files 2 and Hellboy 2 in August.
