Why do companies use these people?

Twice I've booked days off for deliveries that haven't shown up and now they've managed to "lose" my Onkyo TX-SR606 which I had ordered from Hifibitz. Of course, being in short supply they're out of stock so I have to wait another week for them to send a replacement out and hope that ICL don't "lose" this one.

Re: Initial City Link

Tell me about it! I've had goodness knows deliveries not turn up when CityLink were used. Once, I kicked up a fuss with Amazon and they attempted to deliver something 6 times (yes 6 times!), each time stating I wasn't in and they had put a delivery note through my door and each time I was in all day and got nothing!

These days I check which courier service a company uses and if it's CityLink, I refuse to buy from them and let them know why.

I've never had a problem with them, and I've had so many deliveries from them in the last few years I've got to know the driver.

Possibly just an issue with the Mitcham depot. I remember phoning them up the day after I was supposed to have had a delivery and being told I wasn't in and a card had been left. Since this had already happened a few times with previous deliveries, I suggested maybe their drivers weren't looking in the right place for my flat and maybe they could phone me when attempting the re-delivery and I could guide them. At this point, the guy got very defensive and rude and suggested I should have to travel from Croydon to Mitcham to pick the delivery up. When I suggested they, being a delivery company, should possibly attempt to actually deliver it to me, he hung up.

This was the point I lost my rag and told Amazon I'd never use them again while they use CityLink!

I use them for my company, after trying DHL, Nightspeed and various others.

I agree that they are not perfect, but after experiancies with other companies, they are far from the worst!

I think that if you had put any other large courier company name, you would still get the same reaction as you will to ICL. They are all as bad/good as each other!

At work (many years ago) we used to call them Sh**tyStink.

Rather apt I feel.

Same here, used many companies over the years from a work point of view with mixed results from all of them. As with all companies, couriers also live or die by the quality of their staff which varies immensely from shift to shift!!

Re: Initial City Link

According to Hifibitz a batch of Onkyo TX-SR606 a/v receivers were received yesterday, so I should hopefully have on by middle of next week subject to City Link delivering this one.

On the whole they may be no better/worse than other couriers but I've received lots of items via couriers such as Parcelforce, UPS, DHL etc and City Link is the only one I've ever had problems with.

Ditto. Maybe they just don't like us.

I've moaned about them on here before. I live near the prof and my stuff always ends up at their Wimbledon branch which is miles from me. I've lost quite a few days holiday waiting around for them. Now I do not buy if they are to be used. Parcelforce all day long!

Re: Initial City Link

Well, ordered something from Richer Sounds (not realising they use City Link) and it's turned up today, no issues... I feel a little bit ashamed now as I attempted to track the parcel on Saturday night and when I put in the consignment number, I was told it had been delivered in October 2007 which I found interesting since I only ordered it last week. Having had a few beers, I sent a bit of tongue in cheek rude email to their customer services as I was fully expecting it not to turn up.

So I guess I'll have to apologise when they email me back!

If by the Mitcham branch you are refering to the one in Beddington Lane then I have to aggree, but it is interesting that it is only ever HIGH VALUE items the ever go MISSING is it not???? Not that I am accusing anyone from the Mitcham branch of accidentally loosing any thing on purpose, I would never dream of doing so, but a rasther nice digital camera I ordered went walkies there. Hmmmmm.............

Re: Initial City Link

I had a City Link delivery this morning, as promised by the online seller. Yes

City Link can't be any worse than Parcelforce. I've had a few deliveries from them and the delivery bloke was the most patronising and obnoxious person I've ever had at my door.

First delivery he said with a big smirk on his face "Been buying from ebay have we?"

Second delivery (after calling at the wrong house first) he stared at me with a big smirk and shouted my first name very loudly. When I hesitated not knowing how to respond he shouted my first name again until I responded. I didn't know we were on first name terms.
