Though, I'm sure Simon could still find the perfect woman, it's just a matter of hanging outside the right tube station, at the right time.

My own father-in-law has passed (as has my own dad) :( (within three months of one another too) :(
My mother-in law in the early days (years) was a wee tad.... a bit of a pain ... (only at times though, mostly quite decent) .... but not so now....
she is quite BRILLIANT, tbh ... my father-in-law was fantastic with me :)
My two brothers-in-law ... I played five-a-side footy with most weeks (after getting off with their quite lovely sis) and both are fine to get on with :)

Can't afford 'em.
Came out for a two week visit last year and consumed 4 or 5 bottles of wine a night (plus beer).
Conversation went from nothing, to dull, to absolute drivel by the end of the night.
In no rush to do that again

Argh, feel for ya bro.. it may get a LOT better over time mate, you never know.... did with myself.
I think the majority seem to get on though.
Mrs Skippy went to pick them up at the airport (all emotional at the thought of seeing them face to face for the first time in 4 years).... They both walked right passed her at the entrance, when she finally caught up with them (Joy over with), they attempted to blame it on the 12 bottles of wine they'd necked on the flight (I didn't think you were allowed to drink that much)?
Just for the record, food weren't up to much either
Heading out tonight to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary.......I've always got on well with them.
The friction came when my Mother gave "advice" to Mrs.Cno about child rearing.
"Everything has been said before, but since nobody listens we have to keep going back and beginning all over again." André Gide
my mother in law is a truely wonderful and interesting woman. She also lives just 5 mins walk away, so she's an absolute blessing when childcare help is needed. She never imposes and is extremely thoughful. She's also Indian, so cooks the most amazing curries, so our freezer is always stocked with ace stuff.
I have some home cinema and Sonos stuff.
Nothing that a piranha infested moat, a double electrified fence with a few hundred, scratch that, a few thousand, land mines in between, and a battery of radar-guided bofors guns (for when she's on her broomstick) wouldn't cure.
