How big is your music collection?
Yesterday my workmates were shocked when I told them I wanted to swap my 16GB MP3 player for one with more memory because I've completely filled it up with music.
This got me wondering if I have an abnormally large music collection. I have just over 2000 MP3's on my PC and have a wide range of tastes from classical to rave to rock to pop to hiphop and more. And yes, before anyone asks, I do listen to them all.
I'd think mine is actually quite small compared to a lot here - 355 albums. In iTunes, this is apparently 152 GB (ALAC). However I've whittled this down to 1700 songs in my "favourites" playlist (just under 47 GB) which syncs randomly to fill up as much of my 32 GB iPhone as I have available (after all the apps I use are installed). I could do with a 64 GB iPhone really.
16 CDs
i have aload of songs recorded on my sky hd box that i have recorded.
Not entirely sure, but I think around 500ish CDs (only 5121 tracks ripped to iTunes so far)
Lost count at 3500 CDs, plus around 50 SACD/DVD-As
about 30 cds, thats all i'll ever own now, seeing as i have spotify premium![]()

12077 tracks ripped from CDs or downloaded @ 181.22 Gb.
And still a vinyl collection to add to that - the ones that are not available in digital format.
abt 6000 tracks, a mix of alac cd rips, aac from itunes, a bit of hi-rez. abt 150gig.
really need a 64 or 128 gig ipod touch or iphone!!! will buy the moment it is released.
303 albums in lossless on my Macbook, just shy of 40gb. About 250 cds in slide boxes in spare bedroom, keep dipping into them though.... Does anyone else not love owning a cd?? Having the album physically in your hand?? The introduction of streaming providers is not helping although i dont think i will subscribe to Spotify.........yet??
I still love the sound from cds and prefer the sq

That is because you are now plugged directly into the web. Or at least it feels that way.

Not me. I've recently bought some cheap secondhand CD's from Amazon. I didn't even listen to them, I just ripped the music to my PC and gave the CD's to the local charity shop.
Close on 2,000 records of all sizes (7", 10" and 12"), approx 1,500 cds +2,000 DVDs and VHS videos.
To me it is not how many tunes you have as everyone seems to have everything but if you listen to them. A hundred thousand tracks is all fine if you listen to them but most people listen to the same albums or tracks.
I run about twenty to thirty cds at a time in the house, car or on a playlist from about 3000 albums and about 100 records from a collection of about a 1000. Unfortunately dipping into the remainder is a once a month thing when I get a chance.
I find I go through phases of new music when I listen exclusively to my new albums and then similarly find I go through a genre phase which is good to dig out different tunes.

5102 tracks on itunes and millions on the internet. Music streaming is rendering how big is yours threads obsolete.
Internet - laptop - DAC - amp - lots of headphones.
