Hmmm....
...nice.

Not yet. I'm going to drag the family along for a shufti on Saturday. Hopefully I'll have it parked on the driveway by early next week.
The Alfa is now creaking. Spent over £500 a couple of weeks ago, and as it has over 100,000 miles I just evisage more expense. False economy IMO.
Gel / drive an a3 first! I found them uncomfortable. New Astra fits like a glove but many want the Audi 'status'. Golf is better too. Big Audi's are nice. All IMO ofcourse.
Cheers

Ah cheers - will do. I would like an automatic this time.

Personally, I don't give a flying nun about 'status' or image. I like Audis because they are so robust and they're a good drive.

And also hard on the wallet when EDITED goes wrong. However - mileage? Engine? Auto?

60,000; 1.9 Diesel; manual. And about expense, my nephew is a VW/Audi trained mechanic. Apart from the cam belt very little, generally, goes wrong.

If I buy the vehicle given my (alleged) German ancestory, I'll change my username to Plastisch Von Penguin.

At that age, it could do with a few more miles on the clock (and hence a bit more servicing under its belt). Agreed re: cambelt, but may be worth finding out whether the ABS pump has been replaced; it fails on every V.A.G. car, just so that they can have the privilege of relieving you of a grand. The fact that it's a manual obviates my other advice (DSG box failure between 60-100k).
Oh, and IMO the Passat is a more practical car which you can get newer for same money as an A4.
And besides, Audis are the new BMWs, in that they seem to make their owners drive like complete and utter EDITEDs

Fair enough, but this being sold by a very reputable dealer or dealership. I've had an Audi before and my bro has the convertible version of the A4.
Passats are still as pricey for servicing - all part of VAG - and I think they look mundane.
When my Alfa was garaged a fortnight a go they let have a Ford Mondeo for 4 days. It's a nice car and feels more sturdy than the eye-tie, but after 2 days I was yearning for the Alfa. The Audi, after driving my bros, bridges that gap between bland and driving by the seat of your pants. So not quite as good as the Alfa but far more satifying than a VW.

Is that you new car? I want an Audi A3.
