Hatton (forgot how to box!)
He could have done better! He didn't use his jab or moving his head on his way in, basicly there was no game plan apart from try to push Mayweather around the ring!
OK.....he was brave (too brave for his own good) and relentlessly going forward but where is your Boxing skill gone Ricky?
I think he gave up on his original plan after that points deduction, which probably wasn't the best idea.
I stayed up to watch the fight, went to bed at 7am and my 4 year old daughter woke me up at 9am - Just 2 hours sleep, I wouldn't have minded so much if he'd won!
I won a few pounds off bookies! My heart was with Hatton all the way but I am a business man with business sense
I'm still miffed over the khan fight. Was watching tv downstairs, they entered the ring, decided to go and watch it on the bedroom tv and by the time i got to the top of the stairs it had finished!! Now that one i'm glad i didn't stay up til 5am to watch!!!
I dont think he forgot, the ref frustrated him and he anger made him lose the plot. No boxer can fight 2 men in a ring.
Khan fight was a joke, he is over rated.
Khan is an unknow quality at the moment, give him chance to prove himself afterall the saturday night was purely Frank Warren's fault! Frank has done this so many times before and people still packed the arena to watched his (one sided) show.
Khan vs Thaxton will show us how good he really is.
Ginder is right here Joe "i wanna be famous" Cortez is a joke and got roundly slated by boxing jouralists both sides of the pond for not letting the fight flow, breaking them when they're working it out themselves
Khan fight was a joke, he is over rated.
Well said, I agree 2 against 1 for the first 5 rounds the referee just interferred unjustly and seemed to forget the the rules of boxing 'you do not turn you back on your opponement, you must defend yourself at all times - but that seemed to have escaped the memory of the referee conveniently - there was no way, Mayweather or his promotion team would ever have come to england for a rematch and I was naive to think that this fight would or could not have been corrupted but the first 5 rounds proved it.
I've only just seen this post. Now I am a Ricky fan - been to see him live and I live in London. I cannot stand Mayweather. However, regardless of Cortez - I agree he was poor - the fight just showed how much better Floyd really is. The guy who thinks that Ricky would turn it around in Manc land is off his head!! Floyd looked bigger, punched harder, punched quicker, moved a lot quicker and had lots of ideas. Ricky was brave, oh so brave but that's because it's all he had.
As for Khan. His fight was against a guy who had lost a world title fight in his previous bout. It's not his fault that he has electric hands and power beyond his weight. He will be a world champion of that I have no doubt.
Thaiman, he would destroy Thaxton. He has had too many wars and Khan would box his head off and stop him within 3 rounds. I don't think it will even go ahead. Khan is still a boy and he has shown that he can get off the floor and still have power. Hamed, Benn and Hatton have all shown that is a good weapon to have.
The fight is off now!
Thaxton want more money which I can understand as this could be his last fight at this level however if the fight is back on (and I have been asked to be part of promotion!) Hatton would give Khan a harder fight than you think. Jon is tough, ask Hatton! Ricky couldn't stop him and even has some rocky moment with Jon not to mention the ability to knock anybody out with either hands.
Let bring it back on Frank Warren.
That was a war (Hatton Thaxton), however, Thaxton is older and has had lots more hard fights since Hatton. He has looked very poor in his recent fights. Also Hatton was fighting at a lighter weight and was a lot younger back then. I really believe that Khan is underrated because of ITV's commentators going on about him getting caught in his fights. They mention every jab that touches him like he is supposed to fight for 6 or so rounds without tasting leather. As for Jon's punching power, I agree a few years back he could swing with either fist and it would be effective but his last couple of fights he has connected well and not budged his opponent. Khan would retire him and Jon deserves better.
sound like you are a real fight fan Gerrard. So who is your favorate boxer...ever?
Sugar Ray.............Leonard. Brave, fast, skilful, great chin and look at him now - still not a mark. A genius. I loved McGuigan as a boy too. Big fan of Eubank and Barera and Chavez but Ray Leonard is the man. How about you Thaiman. Sounds like you like a brawler? Duran?
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! I forgot my favourite fighter of the last 10 years - Joe Calzaghe. The nearest thing to Leonard. Legend!!
>p>
Apologies Joe.
My son first name is "Benn"...that kinna give away really
I saw many of Nigel's fights and win a few pounds every time he won too. I am not saying he is the best boxer I ever seen but the excitement that he bring into the ring is second to none. Also a childhood hero, Tommy Hearns, as a Welterweight he was awesome.....
I just noticed 2 of your boxers beat up two of my

You gotta remember Hatton started messin up only after Joe Cortez deducted points from him. The ref didnt let Hatton play his game at all yet said nothin to Mayweather for duckin below the waist, using elbows and turnin his back on Hatton. Dont disrespect Hatton's skill, he is a world class boxer! Bring Mayweather to Manchester and we'l see who is pound for pound the best boxer in the world!
