Hands up!! do you hoard old equipment?
Do you ever get sentimental about old stuff? Well I do.
I have a pair of Wharfedale speakers that purchased in 1981. My fiancee keeps pestering me to dump them but I can't bare to part with them.
When I bought them I was 17 and the envy of all my friends - their engrained within me. Also, in the loft I have an old Rotel RCD 975, as well as other components, that won't work.
Am I a minority or are there others like me out there?
Thanks, Mr. Saddo
Unfortunately or fortunately, yes I have. . .even commented on it before. But does it leave an indelible mark on your life, or interfere with your relationship at home?
I hope you know where I coming from (if you see what mean).
Well I've got a lovely Sony MDS JB920 Minidisk deck on the top of my wardrobe if that counts. I loved that technology, alas it died an all too Sonyesque death!
I'm a pretty bad hoarder - I live in a flat on my own, yet I've still managed to collect six televisions, two of which sit in a cupboard doing nothing (and have done for 3 years now). I also still have my old Marantz PM66 KI Sig amp that's broken (but I may get fixed one day, you never know eh?!), an old Sony ST-SE700 tuner and all the speakers from my previous surround sound setup - again all sitting in a cupboard!
Probably worse is my old games consoles / computer collection - I've got an Atari 2600, a Commodore 64, Commodore Amiga (A500 and A600), an Atari ST, Commodore CD32, Playstation 2 (the PS one broke and I did actually throw it out - shock horror!) and a Nintendo GameCube. All of which sit around in my storage cupboard doing nothing... madness I tell you!
I hope you know where I coming from (if you see what mean).
No no. it's countered (in a yin/yang sort of way) by my other half's own equipment drawer.
If you see what I mean.
No, I've always had to trade in my old equipment when buying new stuff.
I used to own a Rotel 965bx cd player that I would liked to have kept, just for sentimental reasons
.
I have a few older TV's in the loft mainly portible ones, My JVC SVHS recorder, a Pioneer DVD/Homecinema thingey. But my main thing I hoard (I prefer to call it collecting!) is like the Prof Games consoles.
I have Nintendo NES,Super Famicom, Gamecube, Wii, Gameboy, Virtual Gameboy,DS. SEGA Jap Megadrive +Mega CD +32X, Saturn, Dreamcast. Sony Playstation 1,2 and 3 and 4 PSP's, A Neo-Geo, and lastly a Atari 2600 vcs.
I hope you know where I coming from (if you see what mean).

Wasn't ying and yang a Saturday morning double act?
Who was it last week who said we don't address the real issues? We get to the heart of what's important.
Is JD's love of HobNobs an addition? If so, should he be referred to a bikki councillor? Or do you have brown sauce, ketchup or salt & vinegar on your chips while listening to Meat Loaf?
Or if a monkey holds a grenade does it go Baboooooooooon? These are all serious issues that needs to be addressed.
Sorry the warm weather has intoxicated the old brain matter. Sorry!
Strangely, I keep game consoles like Mr Krime, but nothing else...I think it's because they can easily be hidden in small boxes.

Oddly enough, I keep things in strange little boxes. . .(cough!! cough!!) But that's a different story.
Guilty.
1 x Rotel Ra820

1 x Teac tape deck
1 x Sony CD#
1 x Sansui tape deck
2 x Mission Model 70 MK2
2 x Mordaunt Short MS814
2 x Goodmans Maxamp speakers
Various cheap DVD players...
Until I came across this thread, I didn't realise how much carp (sic) I had hoarded!
Oh, and note to prof - I am as bad. PS1, PS2, Wii, complete collection of ZX spectrums (7), ZX81, 2xC64, C16, BBC B...
Hey, where do you stash all of your stuff? Our bungalow seems to be ever decreasing, and I haven't got as much gear as you.
Welcome to the club : - )
Glad it`s not just me then. My wife often says she wishes she had never married a hoarder and claims that I am the worlds worst!

Great! You also qualify with aplomb
I bet your "collection" will be alot less than the other half's "shoe collection" ![]()
