RE: Gramophone sold

NR: I wonder if you could help me. I want to buy a gramophone.

FH: A what?

NR: A...um, um, erm...a gramophone.

FH: Gramophone?! C'yuh, we don't do gramophones, dad!

NR: Er...oh. Er...wh-what's that then, there?

FH: That's a stereo record deck.

NR: Oh? Well, what's the difference between that and a gramophone?

FH: Thirty years and a plastic cover.

I doubt it, given he hasn't posted here for about two months (that I've noticed anyway), since he went freelance.

Seems a bit of a coincidence that he left just before this happened, doesn't it? I think we deserve to be told what's going on

I was wondering about that - but it's up to Mr E (and whatever embargoes, contractual handcuffs, etc) to 'fess up...

Unless one of the many WSV staffers contributing regularly to these forums would  – oh, hang on...  rolling on the floor laughing

I guess when so prominent a contributor jsut seems to vanish overnight, an explanation would be good. Part of a community, involvement with readers, new media openness, accountability, we pay their wages, etc, etc  rolling on the floor laughing

(Nice sweariness, by the way)

We had one, several times, he stopped his WHF duties to concentrate on Gramophone and to go freelance.

Some of us may help pay the wages but I get the impression most of the critics don't.

Wasn't that just idle speculation by someone with no knowledge of the matter?

She can be as hussy-y as she likes if Sophie Ellis-Bextor is the result.

Anyway, you'll note that Richard Bacon is somewhat more successful now than most other ex-Blue Peter presenters...

(Adopts Chebby/E L Wisty voice) I think you'll find that Sophie Ellis-Bextor wasn't the progeny of that apparently scandalous pregnancy, but of the marriage Ms Ellis left before embarking on the liason in question.
