Fifa invites software bids after Club World Cup trial

Hawk-Eye and GoalRef in the running for contract

If this thing works well I can see it being rolled out internationally soon after.

Will we end up with a system where the decision is made by a machine or a fourth official.  We could get some dodgy fourth official decisions I reckon. The best idea would be similar to Tennis where it’s decided by a machine and it’s either in or out, goal or no goal.

Hawkeye would presumably be a referral and a short wait before a definitive (computed) answer. Looks like goalref would just trigger whenever the ball crosses the line.

Surely it will be the other way round? FIFA will have to pay a company to set up the equipment etc? So tender's will be keeping price low and guaranteeing accuracy.

Surely the Football League will fund poorer lower league clubs.
