Getting a black gloss finish on my 683's???
Decided i want everythin matching in my home cinema setup (black gloss). I either sell my 683's and step up to CM8's or find away of turning my 683's into a black gloss finish.
So, my question being. Is getting a black gloss finish on my 683's possible???
If i'm honest, i Love the look of the speakers from the front. They just don't go with anything else in the room which mainly black gloss.
I'm a painter & decorator, and it maybe possible, but it also may ruin them if you don't do it perfectly.
My advice is let a pro do them, and it shouldn't be stupidly expensive.
But if you want to do them yourself.
What finish is on them now?
Best finish would be sprayed, but it is possible to get a sprayed finished with certain roller sleeves with lots of prep and care.
I'm off to work now, but I'll get back to you later.
Hi,
The Finish on them is red cherry. Hopefully chat when you've finished work.
Rick.
My very strong advice is leave it to a pro. I'm assuming that the fact you're even asking means you don't already have the experience or skill. It's not going to be anything like painting your door-frames and skirting-boards with Dulux. I don't mean that to sound patronising at all, I'm just trying to stop you from messing-up a thousand pounds worth of speakers.
Haha, i completely understand where your coming from and wouldn't dream of a DIY job. I'm goin to have a listen to a pair of CM8s tomorrow. It's looking like i'll be trading them in for either CM8s or possibly CM9s.
Appreciate the Replies,
Rick.
That's the best idea.
When I googled your speakers I didn't check the price, if I'd have known, I would have advised you stayed well away from them with paint.
given these are vinyl-covered speakers, can't you just get some black-gloss vinyl and wrap them? Maybe ask a professional graphics company to do it, as they'll be less likely to leave you with air bubbles!

A pro could paint them. Don't expect it to be cheap, but it is possble. You've got to ask yourself would you not be better off with a different set of speakers though.
