Got my Xbox back from repair early (good service from MS on this actually, but then I guess they've had a lot of practise!). Am enjoying the campaign mode with a couple of mates though haven't tried the multiplayer yet - in what way is it rubbish?

Re: Gears 2: What A Disappointment

Do you remember in Gears 1 how you could easily and smoothly straff left and right? Well now they have made Gears 2 in such a way that you cant effectively do that. The characters feel very slow and sluggish when fighting upclose and personal and the only ppl that win in such a battle are the ones that rev up their friggin chainsaws.

You cant even stun someone who has their chainsaw revved up and running at you because they will walk through your bullets unless you hit em cleanly with 5-6 shotgun bullets.

Leave that aside for a min and you have the new match making setup which usually takes around 10 mins to find a game, which will almost certainly be laggy.

You are forced to pick a game type you may not wish to play.

You end up in rooms hosted by americans 80percent of the time, and our ping to them is not good at all so lag is present. Some matches you cant even walk cos that just teleports you all over the map.

IM GUTTED!

damn!  i was going to get the game but only really interested in playing on xboxlive.

i think some games are starting to come with a region lock for online play because of the latency issue.  it drives me mad on cod4.

Not had any problems with online play myself Ginder, conects to a match very quickly and no lag issues any of the times I have played online tho the new system of findind your chosen typr of match takes a couple of tries to get used to. I find the quickest way to get a match is actually select the type of match you want rather tan leaving that set to any.

As for combat issues I have found it very good and love the fact that who ever manages to rev the chain gun first in close Melee tends to win.

The single player game is also very solid.

Have you tried hosting a game and inviting friends then filling any empty slots to anyone else?

Hostin games is well and good but if you want to find new ppl that are good then thats not possible cos it ends th gme after every public match.

Personally i dnt like the chainsaw as it doesnt take any skill to use and find is a cheap kill. I actually found myself playin gears 1 and vegas 2 for multiplayer yesterday as they are competitive and played story n horde on gears 2.

I did enjoy Horde with a few mates last night. And whilst there may not be much skill in the chainsaw, I still find it immensely satisfying, even after all this time... maybe that's something I should get checked out!

With you on the chainsaw Prof, also like to wound them then use them as a shield before tapping X and SNAP! there goes another neck!
